F.A.Q.
Estate Planning Services – FAQs
Do you prepare or provide estate planning documents?
No. We do not draft or provide legal documents. Our role is limited to the professional execution and notarization of documents prepared by an attorney or an online estate planning platform such as LegalZoom. If you need a recommendation for an estate planning attorney or online platform, just ask!
Do you provide legal advice or explain my documents?
No. We do not offer legal advice or interpret the contents of estate planning documents. We ensure documents are executed correctly and in the proper order, in accordance with provided instructions and Illinois notary requirements.
I used an online service to create my estate planning documents. Can you notarize those documents?
Yes. We regularly assist clients who have used LegalZoom or similar platforms. These signings typically require more coordination, which is why they fall under our Professional Estate Signing service.
Do you offer in-office and mobile appointments?
Yes. Clients may sign documents at our private Wheaton office by appointment, or request mobile service to their home, office, or care facility. Travel fees may apply outside our base service area.
How are notary fees handled in Illinois?
Illinois law limits the fee for a notarial act to $5 per notarized signature. Our pricing reflects professional services such as coordination, travel, administration, and execution support, which are separate from statutory notary fees.
What’s the difference between Essential, Professional, and Premium estate signings?
The difference is the level of coordination and support provided.
• Essential is best for attorney-orchestrated signings.
• Professional includes guided signing, coordination, and document scanning.
• Premium offers concierge-level support, including witnesses, deed recording services, and priority scheduling.
We’re happy to help you determine the appropriate level if you’re unsure.
Do you provide witnesses if my documents require them?
Yes. Witness coordination is available as an add-on service and can be selected during booking. Availability is subject to scheduling and document requirements.
Can you record deeds with the county?
Yes. We offer courier services for deed recording, including DuPage County and surrounding Chicagoland counties. County recording fees are paid separately and vary by document type.
What should I bring to my appointment?
All signers must bring valid, government-issued photo identification. If witnesses are required and provided by the client, they must also present valid ID.
What if I’m not sure which service level I need?
That’s very common. You may select the service that best fits your situation, or contact us for guidance before booking. We’ll help ensure you’re scheduled appropriately.
Need Guidance?
If you’re unsure which service best fits your situation, we’re happy to assist. We’ll review your needs and confirm the most appropriate path forward before booking.
